Economic Development Center

The Laredo College Economic Development Center’s (LC-EDC) mission is to enhance the economic growth and global competitiveness of Laredo and the South Texas region through high quality education, training, and services focusing on continuous workforce improvement, technology deployment, and business development. To carry out this mission, the LC-EDC has developed partnerships with businesses, industry associations, community colleges, community-based organizations, and local governments.

The LC-EDC has established several key initiatives. They include: providing skills development training; offering a series of workshops aimed at building attendees' effectiveness in the workplace; preparing educationally disadvantaged, unemployed, and underemployed adults for career-path employment and post-secondary education in high-demand jobs; providing critical online certifications through a partnership with the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America (NCBFAA) for the transportation & logistics industry; and providing resources and support to area entrepreneurs.

The LC-EDC offers grant opportunities to businesses seeking to train their employees through the Texas Workforce Commission Skills for Small Business Grant and Skills Development Fund Grant, among others. Also, the LC-EDC celebrates its IMPACT Economic Development Forum recognizing honorees for their valuable contributions to our community in the industry sectors of Economic & Industrial Development, International Trade, Workforce Development, and Commerce & Business Development. The LC-EDC continuously seeks opportunities to meet industry needs and help the community. We invite you to contact us about how we might be of assistance.
