Center for Learning, Academic, and Student Success (CLASS)
Students who are enrolled at Laredo College have an excellent opportunity to improve their success rate in college courses by utilizing the support services offered at the Center for Learning, Academic, and Student Success (CLASS) - Ft. McIntosh Campus and South Campus. The Ft. McIntosh CLASS, located at the Harold R. Yeary Library Room 111, and the Laredo College South CLASS, located at the Senator Judith Zaffirini Library building Room 208, offer peer tutoring and computer programs in numerous disciplines to promote self-enrichment and overall student achievement. Computer workstations for word processing are also available to all students, and lab facilities offer exam services for students enrolled in online courses. CLASS also provides unique instructional support services for students with special needs at both Laredo College campuses.
For faculty members, the CLASS facilities offer make-up exam services. Faculty can also reserve Instructional Support Services labs at the South Campus for supplemental class instruction using microcomputers.
The CLASS offers Academic Workshops in areas of interest and benefit to students which will include "How to Study, Learning Styles, Note-taking, Procrastination Motivation, Test Taking Tips, Testing Overview, Strategies for Different Test Formats, How to Keep Calm During Tests, 5-Day Study Plan, Test Review, Time Management, Tips for Self-Care, Concentration Cycle, How Your Brain Processes Information, and Final Prep - Countdown to Finals".
All faculty are participating with CLASS during Fall and Spring semesters to provide academic coaching for students. Their schedules are posted at the CLASS webpage at www.laredo.edu/class.
CLASS at Harold R. Yeary Library manages an open internet computer lab. The CLASS lab located inside Harold R. Yeary Library Room 166, features 32 computers. The computer lab has internet access, as well as access to software to students can complete their assignments. Students can also access personal email, surf the Internet, play computer games, chat and more, which makes this lab one of the most popular places on campus. The CLASS Computer Lab is available to students, faculty, and staff.
Students who utilize any of the CLASS' services are required to have a validated college identification card. A Laredo College identification card can be obtained from the Office of Student Life.
